V10 what do you think of them?
we have a ford excursion limited edition with the v10 in it. we can usually get 15-16 highway going down to the beach. around town it gets around 11-12
A v10 is a 318 with 2 more cyc really. My buddy has one and he get 15 to 20 mpg. Only promblem is they have alot of power and the trans dose not take it to really if your hard on it that if you get the auto.
I'm calling BS on that one. There is nothing in common between the 318-V8 and the 488-V10. Absolutely nothing. And I seriously doubt your buddy can get 15-20 mpg out of a Dodge V10. I can get those numbers when coasting downhill, but not as an average.
Nope, different bore and stroke. The block is completely different, as well. The V8 have their oil pump mounted below in the pan, the V10 oil pump is in the timing cover.
Actually the Magnum motors were "kinda" related to the V10, but not the heavy duty, low RPM torque monster like what you have Miami. IIRC, early Viper V10s while in design were actually welded together Magnums. I think my memory is fading a bit, so don't quote me on that.
It pains me greatly to say this, but I have to agree with Miami. There is no similarity between the 318 and v10s. The bore, stroke and just about everything else has to be completely different. If anything is interchangeable it would be just pure luck, and a V10 getting 15-16 miles per gallon, that would have to be going down hill with a tail wind. Just idling the V10 is guzzling down gas like there's no tomorrow. It was never designed to be economical. It was designed to be over kill.
The V-10 was based off the old LA 360 anyway. There is almost nothing shared with the LA 360 and the Magnum 360.
You'd buy my truck.
