Depending on what "Needs some work" entails.
If it's not much, $3500 for a V10, decent miles, and a snow plow is a good deal.

Actually the comparison was between the V10 and the 318. No one mentioned the 360.

What's there to tell? The ad has very little in the way of details. It's a V10 with a plow, and lots of miles. Take a look at it if you want and report back.

Dude, the V10 has more power than you will ever use, and they have the 47re tranny. It's stronger than the 46re. That truck has a lot of miles depending on if they were hard miles or not. The guy says "Needs work" that would scare me a bit since most sellers wouldn't admit it if it wasn't very noticeable. It all depends on your budget.

If I were getting a 3/4 ton truck for plowing I would want the NV4500 manual for the granny gear. Plus you do not want to overheat that tranny while going slow.

Just an FYI as reference I used to be the maintenance dept for a guy who owned a large restaurant/ banguet facilies place and a plaza and multiple apartment complexes here in buffalo NY and I used a 98 dodge 1500 with I believe the offroad package since it sat higher than most I remember and the little 318 and auto trans!..... He bought it new and I plowed every time two inches or more fell for 3 years. I had to push most of the snow to one corner and pile it up 6ft so so in the main lot and that truck did an awsome job....the only problem is the front end wore out a bit and sagged bad after a while... and my boss kept up on whatever maint it needed but it was mostly the plow breaking since we went with a lighter cheaper grade myers plow since we went from a ford f350 with the 460 (if I remember right) to the dodge....He even had me por15 it to help with the salt we put down...so I think a 2500 with any motor would do a great job as long as you dont slam into things hard....Btw we replaced the dodge with another ford (F250 with v10)and that with a small Caterpillar which he still uses.

torp74: can you post up a video or sound clip of your exhaust? Never heard a v10 with a 50 series on it.

as far as plowing goes, my dad used to plow with an old 94 f250 with the 7.3, bulletproof motor, but the E40D tranny has been rebuilt 3 or 4 times
bottom line, if your doing any kind of real plowing, the tranny won't like it, don't matter what kinda truck you have (he used to plow with my uncle, and they were working whats now an AT&T lot, i remember working till 6 AM there, i will never put a plow on my truck)
