I used to get Baldwin's from my father's auto parts store long time ago. I can't get them local now, so the only place is online.

OK, I understand if you don't have an O'Reillys close by that you'd get the NAPA Gold stuff. Check your receipts Purpl, I bet they charge you 6.99 for your filters. Not that $1 really matters though.

FRAM = junk, no matter how you frame it. +1000000.

K&N makes some good filters, at least as good as Wix. However, unless they're on sale, their twice to three times the price tag of a Wix has me leaving them on the shelf.

I've heard good things about the nicer PureOne filters, but I'd question their cheaper stuff personally. Cheap filter does not usually equal good filter. You don't get something for nothing.

I've used the Motorcraft FL-1A for the last 200K.Research this subject years ago and found that the quality control is much strickter than all other makers.

K&N flows better because they let through bigger particles. it's the same game with their oil filters as it is with their air filters.

Wix, Donaldson and Hastings are all far superior to K&N with how far down (micron size) they filter. For an even more tasty treat, go get an Amsoil Eao oil filter. Used with their oil and filters they say 15-25 thousand miles with no oil change.

I notice that the motorcraft FL-1A is bigger (i use em on a 5.0 fox) than the mopar wich is what im using on my 5.2. Any noticable difference in oil pressure with the FL-1A? Not sure if it would effect pressure being bigger... Tho, it being a bigger filter with more surface area it would probly give you higher oil pressure since the smaller filters can get sort of clogged with ''particals'' faster and cause flow issues right? So a bigger filter must be better in that aspect. Since it would probly take more particles to restict the flow on a bigger filter.

And what about the oil capacity? Our 5.2's capacity is 5qts. Would you need to add a tiny bit more oil since the filter is bigger? Its time for me to do an oil change. Im probly going to go with a WIX or FL-1A.

I've never had an oil pressure change in my engine,it has 443,000 on it with no internal work ever done.

So, when you switched to the Motorcraft it wasnt any different than using the stock filter size? Well, that sucks. Would be cool to have a slight increase. lol

What about oil capacity? I read somwhere that using a bigger filter will require a little bit more oil. It was on some other forum. I remember it was like a capacity increase from like 4.5qt-to 5qts using a bigger filter. (Obviously on a different engine and with a different filter) But its the same principle. So i wonder if there is a slight capacity increase?
