RP in general is overrated and overpriced. I can get Amsoil for $10 a quart and RP costs $13 a quart.

I use Amsoil in diffs that I care about (the ones in my B2 since they're geared/locked).

Not only that Hahn, but for a little money you can become a preferred customer and have it shipped to your door at dealer cost.

I really don't want to go to the trouble this morning but Amsoil is SO much better than anything out there anyway (including RP) that it is worth the money. We're talking 15 THOUSAND miles on one oil change, versus only THREE thousand with conventional oil. If a guy does the math, the Amsoil is cheaper in the end anyway, and the benefits so far outweigh any of the other oils, that even if it was more expensive in the end, it would STILL be worth it to use Amsoil instead of whatever you pulled off the shelf at Wal-Mart.

This thread kinda got me thinking about running synthetic oil starting on my next oil change. I haven't really thought about it because I loose about a quart every change. I usually just buy the 5 quart bottle of the store brand oil (10w30). Except I'm going to 5w-30 on my next change for winter (estimated in November at my current mileage rate). I'll check the prices of Royal Purple and other synthetics at that time.
