Exclamation Help!! What is this i found in my transfer case? (pics)

Hey guys I'm new to the site and recently purchased a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L. I decided to drop the transmission the other day because my trans needs a rebuild, I had to keep the transfer case on there because there was no way for me to get the very top bolt off (no clearance). But I noticed as soon as I drained the transfer case oil, there was a spring and something that looks like a bullet that just fell out as soon as i opened up the drain plug. I am freaking out because I have no idea where these things go, and I really hope that I do not need to open up the transfer case to find out that there is something broken inside there. It looks like it sits tightly on the drain plug but i'm not 100% sure and I dont even know what function it would have just siiting on top of there anyways. Somebody please help. Thank you.

That does not look like any drain plug I've seen on a ram. What does the outside of that brass plug look like? Take a pic.

Looks like the shifter cam detent. The drain/fill plugs are round and have an Allen-head recess. Put it back in the way you found it.

Looks like it could be the vacuum switch with the top broke off.

never mind the vac switch, I just saw it in the 3rd pic.

Take a pic of where you pulled it from.

It is for your 4x4 shifter. It keeps the lever in the position you put it in.

Ok so I think I should just put it back and not have to worry? last thing i want after a rebuilt tranny is a jacked up transfer case. Ok well here is where I took this plug off of, its a little rusty looking from the pics, but you can see it. Thanks

P.S I couldn't take my front drive shaft off when removing the trans, I would have the shifter on 4x4 but when trying to get the bolts off, after some resistance the drive shaft would spin.
