USE BLUE MAGIC ALUMINUM MAG WHEEL CLEANER. If contains silicone and it will buff any scratch like glass. The silicone will help protect whet you just did.

I used to use BRASSO to clean CDs when they got scratched. And that made a big difference.

Metal polish is the best to buff plastic. I just used elbow grease.

@ Joe Park: Yes, just did the outside.

Also, I had tried Blue Magic on a section of the headlight prior. It did make a difference, but was still a bit milky white when done. Guess my headlights were worse than others.

I used Crystal View Chemicals headlight restorer and it worked beautifully. I got it on sale at K-Mart for less than $12, spent about 15 minutes at it. Then I plugged some PIAA Xtreme White lamps in behind them and now I have headlights I can live with. This weekend I'll be applying a UV protective polish to them in the hope that it'll help me to put off redoing the job for a little longer.
