what advantages does this give us? is it an overkill unless we have many other mods? I am just curious cause I saw a posting for one for sale...this would need a match tb right?
First, you get rid of the belly pan and it's gasket. Second, it carries the torque/power higher into the RPM range along with more power, instead of falling in it's face at 4500, mine still pulls hard to 5500. Without supporting mods, it does reduce low end torque a little, with the mods I have (mainly after I added the Mopar PCM) I got that low end torque back and easily have more than stock.
Tim, check it carefully before purchasing. Both the M1 and Air Gap are made in both carb and FI versions. The FI one costing alot more (of course). But the are not interchangeble. A carb version will not have the bosses for the injectors. It easy to tell, an FI version wll have 4 extra holes per side toward the middle of the intake for the injectors. Also some will have mounting bolt holes for both Magnum, and older LA style heads. Meaning, you will have to plug the unsed holes as well. If it all checks out, and its in good condition, 300 is a real good deal.
I have an M1 (original casting, not the new junk) on my 360 and it is smokin once the truck gets moving, bottom end is lacking but I get 18 to 20 HWY if I stay out of it, I can be rollin at 65 and floor it and It will break your neck. Do it dude its only money!!!
