well a couple days ago my oil pressure dropped to 0 and i figured that the switch went out but then put an aftermarket gage on there and i knoticed that when i start my truck in the mourning the pressure is about 30 psi and after it warms up it goes to around 0... I figured it was the oil pump so i changed that and it is still doing it... I When you get on it a little the pressure comes up a little but then goes back down to 0...

I have asked some local mechanics around and i keep getting different answers. One says its the crankshaft and that its worn out and another says its the camshaft bearings... Both say that if it is the problem it would be cheaper to just look for a new motor... Its a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 with 140,xxx...

Ime only 18 and have school and just got a job so dont have very much money yet to get a new motor so let me know if i can baby this thing for maybe a few more months...

Any advice appreciated...

Did you check the pickup screen when you had it apart? run some 15-40 oil (or something thicker than what you're currently using) in it and see if the pressure comes back.

Helms, he said he replaced the pump already.

Get some Rislone Restore oil additive and see if that helps the pressure. If it does, it will be temporary and you likely need a rebuild.

if you have been able to drive it around with 0 pressure, than something else is the problem. If there really was 0psi of oil pressure, that thing would seize up in a matter of minutes.

Damn! I just reread your post and saw no edit tag and thought I was going crazy.

Well i changed the screen when i changed the pump and i also put some 20-50 casterol oil in there because i figured it would bring the pressure up but no to no gain... I hear a noise that sounds more like a little rod knock than a valve but remember ime only 18 so they might sound the same... I have been babying it to school and work everyday and i am just worried that i am gonna throw a rod and be SOL for a while...

I have been reading up and it would seem it would be cheaper to get a new 5.2 than to go through it and replace the internals because of the high mileage...

Ime in Texas just north of houston and if any of yall are around here whats a good price on a decent motor... I know thats a lot of work but i think it would be the cheaper route...
