Someone's gotta play devils advocate here...

Well you started with just wanting to paint your rear (to which I was tempted to retort "just pull up your pants son.") and now you've got the whole truck covered like some 70's/80's wanna-be muscle car.
At least that's what the last couple of pics looked like to me. I know for you younger guys having a 318 is a big motor, but having grown up in those times past, 318's were passenger car engines or base truck /van engines, and the overwrought striping was used on later "muscle cars" with those engines to give the "illusion" of performance.
Guys I grew up with usually went to great lengths to NOT get the stripes...or have them removed. Or (and the best mod) swap in a REAL motor.
Perhaps you should start by removing all your emblems and rub strips, admire the clean lines and apropriate sculpting left behind, and then proceed cautiously.

You know you are right. My mom had a '69 Charger with a 383 Magnum. It didn't even have the Magnum 500 rims....it had the steel wheel and dog dish hubcaps.

im glad someone is playing that role...lol

the more i look at it...the more i dont like any of it.

i wouldnt mind stripping everything off of it and just have white...but i dont want it to look like a fleet vehicle either. i can definately appreciate "less is better" but i dont want "just another truck".

as far as the 318 goes...i have been doing some work to it lately, and i know its the little guy...however, my original intention when i started toying with this truck was to try to get all i can get from the 318.

...called 'em "dog dishes" back in the day. You'd order the car that way because why pay for the magnums when you were gonna slap a set of Keystone or Cragar mags on it with big 60's series tires and some air shocks so they'd clear.
Nowadays...they make those plain steelies big enough to run wide tires or slicks, and you can use the dog dish caps...coooooooll!

im the type that checks, checks again, re-checks...waits a while, checks again and still not sure.

stock looks good...thats why this truck did so well...thats also why i havent changed anything, but i want it to look different. i want another set of wheels...subtle but personal...i have been looking for 3 years and have yet to find something i want. ive been considering the *ss stripe for quite sometime...but still havent done it.

i just dont want to mess up a good thing.

Dang right! When i ordered my Crager V5 rims I decided that 15/center cap for Crager centers was crazy so I used the chrome ones from the base steel factory wheels.

The "fleet vehicle" or "monocoupe" look is in now days unless you want to still do old school scallops and stripes. I know I prefer my truck debadged and uncuttered.

As far hopping up a 318...
Todays MPI engine is certainly a better runner than the old Carter BBD motor, which was world renowned for its reliability, NOT its performance. Since I've owned a few, I believe I can speak well on that.
Sure, you can add a ton of parts to one, but without the cubes, you usually hit a wall pretty quick. You're simply asking that engine to do something it was never meant to do in the size vehicle you have.

You should do the solid black "Bumblebee" stripe on the rear with the "V8 MAGNUM" like the badges on the door.

this is one of my favorite paint schemes
I wanna do something like that to my hood. Just have instead of 340, it'd say 318 with "MAGNUM" in the 1 like "WEDGE" in the 4.

I won't clutter up your thread, but if you'll check my garage theres plenty of side and 3/4 views.
And it may look like a work truck, but really thats what it is.
Did you dyno your truck to get these figures?
