My Rebuild Thread
lol my manifold on the truck is filled with oil and carbon still. i didnt change the 02 sensor, my egr pipe i cut it so i have an exhaust leak (somewhat have a can of mt. dew and muffler cement on it now.) didnt change plugs or wires. and i didnt do the kegger mod.
Now im changing all of that, and doing the kegger mod to my new intake. plus my buddies plenum is bad in his truck, and i sold him my hughes and manifold for 100 bucks. And hes paying me to chnge it out. so yea thats why im getting a second.

Amsoil also makes one of the best filters out there.
I later spoke to Rob Stark (Indy car builder) about oil filters and my concerns about oil and filters in general. It was then I learned about past filters that used to oil can and explode at the seams due to too much restriction thus causing engine failure.
Well, the K&N filter also suffers from being over restricted. K&N is trying to sell people on the idea that smaller micron counts makes a better filter and that it will protect the engine better. It makes for a worse filter and, in my case, it may have caused more wear in the top end.
All due to a simple part. It was a good thing that I only ran it a few times before ripping the SOB out and trashing it. Now, it's not making a racket like it was before and my oil pressure is back to where it is supposed to be.
Same thing plug wires. After testing out two sets of high performance wires and noting multiple failures with MSD superconductors, I finally had enough nerve to start calling engineering and asking some questions about these junk spiro-wound wires that are being mass produced and stuffed into every shop known to man.
I found some startling information to say the least. Both from a technical standpoint and a sales and marketing standpoint to support the reasons why they use this type of construction. This type of construction is employed for a lot of new racing cables on the market today, not just MSD. Almost every cable from Accel to Taylor is using the same core.
Anyway, back to what I was trying to get at- it's always the small stuff that is often overlooked and, it's always the small / simple stuff that is usually the root of the problem.

You know that Mobil 1 and K&N filters are the same filter? The K&N is just a Mobil 1 filter painted white and has a nut on the top. But one thing about both of those filters is that they both have really small inlet holes. The Napa 1515 (Same as WIX 51515) filter I currently have has much larger inlet holes.
Obviously made by the same manufacturer with the only difference being the shell case. The innards are the same I will assume. Thanks for the info. How did you come about learning this?
So my fuel injectors/fuel rail, and thermostat/sensors are all hooked into the new manifold. kegger mod is complete. Hughes plate will be here in th morning, but it started raining, so i dont know when ill get a chance again, its supposed to rain till thursday, and i need the truck thursday.
yay got my hughes plate today, got it mounted to the new manifold. new manifold is goin in the truck tonight.
