Default Jumped a curb...Messed up Front End...

Ok so im going to get some formula for my daughter, and im on my wy home, and some old bitch cme into my lane causing my to jerk out of the may. I jumped a curb, hit it at about 40 MPH's, and the curb is about 3 inches high, and the square type (not and angled curb.)

The bitch keeps going IN MY LANE, as im off the road. i pull into the store about 100 feet down the road, and checked to see if i popped my tires. No, but scuffed them pretty bad. I havent checked underneath yet for damage, but its dark, and i didnt bottom out or anything.

I just got an alignment, and drivers side ball joints rplaced. My steering wheel was right at 12 oclock. now it at 3 o clock, and when i turn left she jumps like in 4WD.

Any thoughts on what i messed up? im taking anin depth look when its light tomorrow, but any insight woud be great...

this sucks, cuz im in the process of purchasing parts for my rebuild. and even though i was going to replace everything in the front end, that was last on my list

Sounds like you bent a tie rod...sorry to read that.

If you did, be careful, you don't want to screw up the box.

Time for a 1T TRE conversion.

Oh...and cheer up...you're alive and the truck can be fixed. Its money and times are tight, but you're around to deal with it. Thats a plus!
Hopefully this person wasn't drunk or having a siezure, and doesn't take out someone else.

i did this same thing about a month ago. i was going to work at 5:45 am and i was dark and just rained so everything in on the road blended together.

I went to turn into a turn lane but didnt notice there was a median and went right up over at 45. Nothing happened to mine though.

my tie rods had a little play before hand, (dont know how the didnt see this whn i go an alignment) but im hoping nothings bent..... its my DD, and i dont like driving my g/f's Maxima becuase its to low to the ground, and...its just not my truck...

looks like i have to start the front end stuff first...well after the Modded kegger and TB with the Hughes plate go in next weekend!!! ( im really excited about this rebuild)

I hit an 4 inch island and popped my driver side tire going about 40 mph. Scared the crap out of me!!! I'm just glad no one else was there.

WHY OH WHY didnt i just run into her...all it was was a little dodge shadow....but i couldnt hit a fellow mopar....and i dont have a horn...that may have helped...water got into it

shoulda hit her. or at least yanked it into her when you were on the side of the road. can you say pit maneuver?

the soda can egr deal was great, i read it in the other thread.

the 4x4 on a left turn sounds like a cad issue. could be the vac line popped off or the shift fork is broken or the shift motor is hosed.
without the vacuum line there to keep the shift collar on the intermediate shaft (drivers side) then when you make a left turn it'll allow it to slide toward the passenger side and engage the 4x4. but thats only in the axle because the front drive shaft is able to free wheel in 2hi on the shifter. so when it engages it'll feel like it grabs a little until the lovely open-ness of the front axle allows the outside tire to spin more than the inside tire.

Sorry to hear, but glad you're ok. The toe angle has been severely changed for the steering wheel to be that far off. I agree with Dog, you have bent part(s). When inspecting the tie rod also examine closely the steering arm. 2 visual checks I use are:

(1) Measure the distance between steering arm and inner sidewall of the tire, then compare measurement to opposite side.

(2) Use a strong light and examine surface of steering arm where it meets the knuckle assembly looking for surface flaking indicating where the bend occurred.

If the steering arm is bent, resetting the toe with a straight steering wheel will result in a noticeable difference in exposed threads on the tie rods when comparing left and right. While not necessarily a problem in itself, it will cause tire edgewear due to the change in steering angle. The steering arms are designed to have a specific angle to avoid tirescuff when making turns. A bent steering arm will cause that side to turn the wrong amount and wear the edge of the tire.
