I'm quite relaxed Augie, thank you very much.
The situation seems resolved, maybe if guys stop bumping the thread every other hour to offer observations on the 4 or 5 posts that got a bit out of hand on a 9 page thread, that would help.
Advice was asked for, it was given, I wish the OP the best of luck with the rebuild.

i paid 2200 for a fully rebuilt/upgraded trans... with full 1ton internals and an extra clutch pack and new tc.. the best thing.. 3yr/75000 mile warrenty if i brake down in arkansas he will pay to tow it in and fix it at no cost to me........ mine was toast not sure wh but fluid was all burnt and filter looked a lil clogged.....

now for 550 i could have had a rebuilt stock trans 2yr 24000. other shops were only a year... but keep in mind too a 97 will cost more to rebuild cause only the 97 trans fits in a 97 so they are harder to find used and more to rebuild..... jasper and bully dog offer trans for our trucks both around 2100 with the upgrades.... the aps can be rebuilt stock with new tc to extreme with tc and they are from 1800-3500 and you still need to pay a shop to rebuild it.....

also mine had a broke parking detent and would only start in neutral..... but i love my truck and yes i checked all over wisconsin the guy who is doing mine has been doing this for 28 years and his specialty is dodge and he has never had one come back do to his work.. only one repair and that was do to a guy hauling a car trailer with 4 cars in it in od for about 20,000 miles.....never haul in od if you are really loaded.. i bought mine to haul the harley or trailers for tohers nothing heavier then one car.... and yes i have a tow package with brake controler and i plan on adding a bigger tranny cooler.....to run in tandem with the stock one.. maybe fab up a fan on the cooler to a switch that will turn it on at a certain temp...

I totally believe there a huge difference in the national chains and such vs the hometown mechanic shop ...especially a trustworky one......I ridiculous bills goodyear hands me for my vans work to pass off on my company are almost unbelievable....And regular people pay this!.....I got another frien who recently bought an 06 f150 thats been plagued with issues and he took it to firestone!!....dudes crazy....they charged him 1700 bucks to replace a broken spring and change his brake pads and replace his front rotors....thats highway robbery!
that being said there are a lot of people that only feel comforable driving into a major chain like that because they thing they will somehow do a better job...Wrong...the kids working on your car are usually clueless and just learning working for close to minimum wage and they charge premium prices...

nope, i was just commenting on the 9 page comment.
why do so many people on this forum have their preferences set to only show like 9 posts per page? all that loading the next page mess would get old fast.

A-men. The chains are a ripoff, and when I hear of people taking their cars to Goodyear or Firestone, I always want to ask them if there was lube used while they were getting farked in the as_s.
