Sorry about the lack of detail.

Ok the truck when I got it wouldn't start. It would just crank and crank but thats it. We checked the fuel pressure and barely any gas shot out of that valve up on the engine. We lifted the bed up, pulled the sending line on the pump, turned the key and barely any gas came out. So we knew that was the problem. We replaced it and the fuel pump works way better than the old one. We tried starting it again but it just cranks and cranks and wont start. It got very very close to starting once but it didn't. Today we're going to check for spark but I wanted to know if there are common things on this motor that go bad and cause it not to start.

Check for spark first, if you do have spark(nice and strong), unscrew the pre cat o2 sensor and try it. Let us know what happens and we can go from there.

If the fuel pump was bad and it wasn't getting gas. My money is on the fuel injectors. I think they might be gummed up, but that all depends on how long it was sitting. Also, if you just got the truck, this would be a great starting point for you to do a tune up on it to rule that out...by the way, all the posts before this were just a "welcome to the DF" in a way only the DF can!!! So by all means, don't take it personal.

Don't worry I didn't take it personal. The truck did sit for awhile before I got it. Probably about 3 months. Do the injectors need to be replaced or can they just be cleaned?

No need for over kill. Just clean them out. I haven't tried this myself, but people around here use a ***elery cleaner and a bottle of techron.

They can be cleaned using a j e w elry cleaner from walmart. Did you check for spark? Did you try removing the o2 sensor?

I didn't try the o2 sensor but we're about to go check for spark.

How do you remove the injectors? Do they come out with the fuel rail? Or can I just dump injector cleaner into the tank and try starting it?

I agree that the injectors could be the cause, but you need to try some other easier stuff first.

If I remove the o2 sensor then what do I do? Should I check to see if it is good or do I try to start it without it?

Pulled the fuel injectors and they are very dirty. I put a little screwdriver poker thing in the filter and I pulled out lots of junk so I feel like this is my problem. Buying new injectors is too expensive so I am going to see if I can find a local shop who can clean them or if I can find a rebuild kit.

OMG! whatever man. You see if it starts for GS after unscrewing the o2. Have fun with sticking things in the injectors, now even if you didn't need new ones, now you do. Good luck man, hope it all works out.
