you really think it is going to be that loud??

to be honest even tho the exaust is not connected now and it is loud. it is driving a lot nicer then before. shift smooth without kicking and it is getting beter gas mileage. so i am guessing the cat been bad since i bought it. just now it got worste. i just got that truck not even 5 month ago.

been having a lot of problem with it since. i don't get it.

for example, one day i woke up in the morning and the battery was dead all the way. try to jump it with another car and the starter cut on fire.
there is a piece of metal mounted to the starter and it got loose and it touched the chasis, what causes to drain the battery, thanks god it didnt catch on fire at night when i was sleeping.

and now that squeaking noise you can hear in the end of the video. i changed the belt and it didnt go away. it does it more when i am driving.

and last but not least the heat. when i put the heat on, it blows normal temputure air, and the ac line are ice cold , so the ac is on when the heat suppose to be on.. :-(

i am going to cut the cat tomorrow and empty it. lets see how loud that thing is going to be. i will take some pics and video.

that is what i was thinking to do.. lets see how hard it is. suppose to snow a little tomorrow.

ye, we use to do that on moped the 50cc exaust. drill a hole on the back of it. file it with gazoline and lit it on fire for an hour then emty it.. it did work before. i am assuming the car cat will be harder.

gutting the cat shouldnt be too loud if you have the stock muffler still on it.....i gutted mine by cutting the exit tube and using a hammer and pipe, just make sure to remove your o2 sensor 1st so you dont damage it

i don't know why i was thinking that you had straight pipes from the cat back but since you have a muffler then it should be fine.

my camaro (v6) has a gutted cat and the first thing i did to it was chop off the muffler and it was unbearably loud so i put a glass pack on it and its all good now.

for the squeaking noise what you should do is take the belt off and rotate each pulley to feel for any grinding or wobble and listen for any noise. if you can't feel anything then you should get a mechanics stethoscope and poke around the engine with it running to find out what is making that noise, just be careful around the belt when its running.

i did it today. got an electric saw and cut it from the buttom all the way and on both sides about 3 inches and i pushed it open with a big screw driver. most of the stuff inside was broken already from the saw cutting it.

i emptied it and reweld it. it look great. maybe little louder then before. but you can hardly tell the diffrents. and like i expected yesterday. it is running much nicer and shift from P nicer and no kicking anymore when it shift to 2'nd. getting beter gas mileage also.

i will put the pics up tomorrow. went to the dealer to buy those exaust bolts and they want $3.99 for each plus the price of the nut . so i went to pep poys and i got a box of 3 bolts and 3 nuts plus 3 washers for $3

i will check on that belt.. that squeaking is driving me crasy. and little emberasing.
