4-link refers to the type of axle setup whereas A-arm or control arm refers to the individual part (usually preceded by upper or lower). I still say that if someone asks me about their A-arm I know exactly what part they are referring to and what kind of front system they have, but if they simply say control arm I have to ask for more information. A-arm=2WD in all situations, but control arm could=either 2WD or 4WD. And I bet if the OP had put A-arms in the title instead of control arms this thread would have gotten fewer views because the 4X4 people, like myself, would have known it was about a 2WD truck. Just sayin'.

That lift looks so sweet. I've looked at it before but I dont have 1000 bucks to shell out for it and new wheels plus I wouldn't want my 2wd to be a poser. Thanks for the replies fellas

Essentially, speed bumps will become topping out disasters, as your suspension will be driving around at nearly full droop already.

You've convinced me to get the spindles. I checked out Doetsch's site you mentioned and the spindle kit was not out of my price range. So all you did was install the spindles and you got 3in of lift?

011500RAM,...I Somewhat agree...I personally would change to the longer arms,..but what I'm saying is, that you CAN put up to and including a 3" lift using stock control arms,..anything above, you'll need a trac arm drop kit ta boot!

I know you can get 3" of lift with spindles, but the only thing I didn't like was the front stance of the truck is widened more than the back, at least from what I've seen. It is awesome if your looking for a prerunner look, but I prefer the upper control arm and spring kit to keep my stance similar to stock.

I installed the spindles, and it was essentially a leveling kit. The truck sits just a touch higher in the front than the rear. What I didn't like at first was the widened stance in the front. My front tires sit about 2" wider than the rear. Also with 305 70's at full turn the tire will clip the front bumper a slight bit. This is not the case with lift spacers. Also, you WILL need longer brake hoses, no matter what anyone (Including the MFG) says. I gut 25" hoses made and they are slightly long. I'd say a 24" or even a 23" would do nicely.

The widened stance took getting used to, but I watched my Dad drive it down the road and it looks awesome. Also, the wide stance up front really seemed to improve stability on the road.

Also, I'm going to put fiberglass fenders on the front so it will accommodate for this.

Hope that helps.
