Yeah, that TSB was introduced in 1996 as a service manual revision. Then it stayed the same for the rest of the model years.

^when draining, note that the fluid level is above the rim of the pan. as you loosen the pan and crack the seal, fluid will run out everywhere. so put a BIG catch pan under the transmission. once it starts leaking out, stop and let it drain for awhile. you'll get one or two quarts out at this point. once the flood subsides, then slide the jack under the transmission pan and drop it. hold it nice and steady with all 3 hands as you lower the jack. or else...
Yeah, thanks that is what I meant to say. I belive you are supposed to use ATF+4.

Use only +4. Some people use dex/merc with an additive that's suppose to be equivalent to +4 but I've read too many horror stories about that stuff.

That additive does not exist.

Ok I have a question about this. I added a deeper pan now when I add fluid how much should I put in before I start the truck and check it for being full

5.5 quarts seems right. how much more does the new pan hold?

when i dropped my pan the other day i put it back on without a gasket and just let the valve body drip into the empty pan for 3 days. it took a little over 8 quarts to fill it back up and that is with an oem pan and no check ball.

If you don't have a torque wrench just use a 1/4 drive rachet and go around it very slow until snug, not tight.Just don't overdo it.As far as fluid goes, I used DEXRON III for 368,000 miles in the factory transmission so I don't think it hurt it any.

IIRC it said 2-4 quarts. That pan actually fits the other style tranny as well. I believe on that tranny it adds less then ours. i think it should be 4 added then.

I have the check ball delete and the new cooler.

In that other post about the cooler I believe it was you that told me to watch out. You said you got rid of the stock stuff and had temp issues. Did you do away with the stock cooler and the rad cooler or how did you do it that you had problems?
