Rough running issue
A new problem has arrived, on my way to work this morning, my tranny wouldn't shift in to overdrive. 1st, 2nd and Drive worked like they should, it down shifted normal and didn't shift hard. But it didn't shift to over drive. I think and the very end of the drive it finally went in but it made the truck shake. But it is also -21 degrees here with the windchill. And i am lifted so the air can go right under my truck.
well knowing that makes me feel better, i thought my tranny was going, well im sure it is going but not completely yet. im on 172K on stock engine and trans. Now i still need to figure out the running rough, hopefully this weekend i can rip it apart and look at it, but its a pain to do outside in a -21 degrees
My 96 ram had 220K on it on stock motor and trans and ran like new
You should consider doing a trans fluid flush, it really does help out a lot. I've rebuilt some transmissions in my time, and the #1 reason for failure is because the fluid goes bad, the bearings go bad in the planetarys, and they turn themselves into flakes of metal, which get caught in everything else. I did a 4L60E trans for my buddy and that's what happened to him. Just needed new fluid and it never would of failed.
And I know what you mean about -21, I have a lot of mods to do to all 3 of my vehicles, but hell if I'm going to do it when it's this cold out.
BTW- Did you check all your vacume lines? A loose line anywhere will make it run like ****so. The 360 is built like a bull, I can almost 99% guarantee nothing internally has gone wrong. It's something ridiculous, like a loose vacume line, or bad plugs/dist. cap, something along those lines. Have you checked your fuel pressure? Pop off your schrader valve on your fuel rail(looks like air tire valve), and hookup a $4 autozone PSI gauge. I believe you should be getting from 45-60psi with the key on the "ACC" position. If you're not, try replacing your fuel filter. Might be clogged, or the cold weather finally froze moisture in your lines and is stuffing it up. And lastly, check your fuel pump. If you turn your key to 'ACC' and you can hear your fuel pump HUM from outside the truck, then you need to replace the fuel pump. Let me know how things go friend.
