Default 99 Dodge won't stay running

I have a '99 Ram 1500 sport with the 360. Truck was running fine, I shut it off when I got home. I go to start it about 2-3 hours later, and it will start but will die as soon as I let off the gas. I can keep it running by giving it gas. There are so many possibilities that cross my mind, I don't know where to start.

It has been kinda slow to start sometimes, but it has done that since I have had the truck.

Also, it just started getting cold here in Michigan the last few days.

i'd guess weak battery is causing both problems. a weak battery screws up the reference signals to the IAC and TPS. also a bad battery sometimes won't accept a charge and come up to full 12 volt. jump it, charge it, or take the battery out and have it load tested.

I have searched, I am guessing it is the IAC, but am not sure, thats why i am posting. The check engine light is not on, it comes on randomly when I am driving.

The battery was my first guess, but it is turning over fine, and volts checked out good, getting a good connection. I know batteries love to play tricks on you in the cold

Any help would be appreciated

IAC could cause this problem. inspect, clean, return with details

provided your battery is measuring 12volt when ignition off and 14+ when running, then it may be IAC only. but be aware that low battery voltage will cause false IAC problems.

i've not had much luck with cleaning IAC's. that only works when the pintle and/or well is all gunked up. unless you can see/scrap off gunk, just replace the stupid little thing. about $50.
