Default 2000, 3/4 ton, 5.9, Cold weather starting problem

Hello, I have a 2000, 3/4 ton, 5.9 gas engine, Ram 4x4.
This morning truck would not start. Engine cranked fine but only 'chugged' a little, would not kick over and start. Temp outside was 12 degrees.
My coworker said to try holding gas pedal to the floor and crank engine. After about 5 seconds it started, ran rough for 5 or so seconds and then idled out fine.
My coworker called it a 'Cold Temp Sensor', said it bolts in to the manifold. I am not having luck finding this part at Autozone's website or anywhere else.
Any ideas what this part is really called?
Thanks much,
Lakedawgs

The only thing I can think of is the IAT sensor. (Intake Air Temp)

It's a common problem point.

this guy got his cold start issue fixed by putting new spark plugs in and he put his oem coil back on.

and this

this guy has a ram van but its the same motor. the pcm was bad.

sounds like your IAT(intake air temp) sensor is bad. its like a $30 part, bolted in the throttle body. (could be in the manifold not entirely sure.) this sounds like what your coworker is talking about.

I noticed mine actas funny and sometimes likes to stall when I take my foot off the gas to stop at a light...sometimes it wont idle and I have to give it a little gas for a min or so...but only seems to do this on colder days and not all the time?

sounds like you might have a failing IAC(idle air control) motor.

You also could have condensation in your fuel line, which will cause the same issue that your having. I just had this issue after we had a blizzard here.

Two different things. One is a temp sensor. The other controls the amount of air bypassing the throttle blades to control engine idle.
