i bought 8 of these from summit and i put in for dodge 318/5.2L magnum engines but are these gapped correctly?

Technically yes. They are auto gapped for any vehicle so no gapping is needed.

 

Rule #1 - Always gap your spark plugs before installing them.

 

Gap for your truck is .04.

 

Not for E3's. DO NOT GAP YOUR E3'S!!! THERE PREGAPPED!!!

 

not to hijack but I think the OP got his answer and this is topical. I just got a set of autolite 3923's. I should gap those to .04? and if I wanted to index them how is that done? I am guessing a special kit that has washers/shims? also where do you want the bottom electrode thing clocked in there. maybe facing away from the intake valve so the little metal strap deal is out of the way? I know it would be time consuming but I like to tinker. any negligable gain in doing so if ever so slight?

 

5.9's say to gap them to .35...thats what it says under my hood, and thats what i did to my mopar champions i got. E3's do not need to be gapped, for they are triple pronged, and wold be hard to gap.

Singles prongs you always want to check the gap. i got a spark plug gapper for 1.49 at AZ.

 

Yeah I'd have to agree on not gapping a 3 pronged electrode.
It's hard enough to get 8 of them exactly the same now try 24.

FWIW on the E-3's even if you had all three prongs exactly the same the spark will randomly jump around between all 3 (just the nature of electricity).
But if one were closer this would always draw the spark to it.
I would trust the factory settings over my shakey hands IN THIS CASE
