Gas Gauge stuck
i flled my truck up last night, and the needle worked. i drove and it worked up until i used an 8th of a tank. then it stopped. and i know its not working because ive gone 138 miles and it still is pretty much on full.
is there a way something got frozen? it was VERY VERY cold this morning

The sensors for the gauge are a pretty common thing to go out on a lot of vehicles. If it was because of the cold I would think it would solve itself. The sensor on mine is going out, and I'm waiting for the fuel pump to go as well, so I can just do them both at the same time (they're both inside the gas tank). Until then, I'm just gonna watch my gas tank odometer to tell how long until I need a fillup. It's what I've always done anyways.
The fuel pump and the sensor aren't together or anything, I was just saying that it would be easier (and possibly cheaper) to do or have both the fuel pump and the sensor done at the same time, since they're both inside the gas tank.
Wait wait wait. I'm not saying you don't have to do both of them. Just that it would be more efficient to wait until the pump goes out and to do them at the same time.
But, I'm pretty sure you would need to drop the tank.

well i just jumped on my tailgate (6 degrees out) for when i stepped into my truck, the suspension was frozen. so i jumped on the tailgate, and the gas gauge dropped another 8th of a tank....is this a good sign or not? and im nt sure if its accurate, ive gone 138 miles, and its around a quarter of a tank now...and his was the first time i filled her with super from empty...and ive seen this gas milage before...this is what i get on the highway

It could be a good sign. It really could just be stuck due to the cold weather. The best thing would be just to wait and see if the problem simply goes away, so you don't spend money on something that isn't broken with something new that will have the same problem.
crap, when i started it and went to work this morning, it went back to the "stuck" posistion, so it hasnt moved...it did until i started it....but since it moved when i started it, is it possible the sensor is working, just not getting an acurate reading...i did go offroading, and hit a good bump lol...got the front tires about 3 inches off the ground....maybe thats what screwed it up
I doubt it had anything to do with a bump....maybe theres sediment from bottom of the tank that got stuck in it?
Mine has gotten stuck and read off a bit to...actually Ive had the guage stick from time to time on my Jeep, kitcar and most reciently on my vette which cost my $70 to have fuel delivered to me on the side of the road on the nystate thruway (they have a scam going on and your forced to deal with one licensed company for breakdowns on that part of thruway) likily I got reimbusred through the roadside assistance plan on my att phone.
