Hey guys I just bought a 2000 Dodge ram 2500 5.9 V8. After I drove it home I noticed that the tube coming off of the right side of the air filter is disconnected at both ends, the tube was just sitting there. I can't for the life of me figure out where the other end of the tube is supposed to be connected. It appears that it should go kinda down and to the right near the right side headers but I don't see any connections. Any help would be most appreciated.
The house goes into the back of the air box its good for winter it helps the truck warm up. One end goes to the air box the other end goes the the valve cover. It should just push in on both ends.
The valve cover is almost right beneath the air filter box and the tube is fairly long. It must connect to something else, can anyone give a little more help or detail on where it should go?
On your valve cover you should have a breather looking thing if there is no hose connected to it than that hose will connect that to the bottom back of the stock airfilter assembly it may have been changed by previous owner and be a little long but that is were it is supposed to go
^+1 on the above, except its purpose is to pipe filtered air into the valve cover, on the opposite side of the pcv valve. the side of the engine with the pcv varies by year. my 01 has pcv on drivers side and fresh air hose on passenger.
If you mean on the right of the truck when you are sitting in it, it goes to the inside of the fender and the intake. Otherwise, it's the tube that goes to the valve cover. Just figured I'd clarify since nobody said that and when I got my truck it seemed as if the previous owner disconnected it from mine for "better air flow"
