Default Heater turned A/C?

So the cold temperatures are getting here quick and I noticed that my heater is not blowing warm at all.. not even mildly warm. It's almost to the point where I think it could possibly be colder than my A/C runs. Anybody have any idea on this? I've been told that if it was my heater core that I'd be leaking fluid from this if that was the case.

Thanks again to the great help from this Dodge forum and Merry Christmas,
Jake

I actually just replaced my radiator about 2 months ago at max; all new fluid.

I'm not on this site a whole lot and never thought about looking for a search bar. Thanks for advising that though.

but did you flush the crap out of your heater core?....its like a small radiator and coolant goes through it too...hopefully they hooked everything up right...

Hahah.. Yeah I understand what you guys are saying and I apologize for adding to it. But can anybody tell me in detail on how to flush the heater core? Do you literally have to get to it and take the dash off or is there another way of doing it? Novice here but I do enjoy trying to tackle jobs on my own and you guys are the source of my knowledge.

Thanks for the great work guys.

well, i think your best bet, bring it to a garage. they have this machine the hook up, and it will flush the stuff out.. nothign taken apart on your end... and being that you just had the radiator replaced, there must have been something wrong with it, so what was in the old, is now in the new anyway... so mind as well get it done even if its not the problem...

but thats a big +2 on a thread looking something like this... " found out my 4x4 doesnt work" saw it last year...

if you don't have that machine you could prolly BRING IT INTO THE GARAGE.. PULL THE LINES... TAKE A HOSE AND RUN SOME WATER THRU IT... RUN WATER THRU ONE HOSE FOR A WHILE.. THEN SWITCH...

1,000 post!

FWIW, you could have an ice blockage in your heater core!

Same thing happened to me last week. We had temps in the 20s (1st of the season) and it took 30+ minutes of driving before the ice in my heater core broke loose and I had heat. So I drained some of the coolant and put more anti-freeze in the system.

Problem solved

I've done my searching but do have a question as well.

I thought I came to terms that I needed a heater core in my truck, but I've been told by people that if I need a heater core it would be leaking.

I can't seem to find any leaks, and I've tried flushing the heater core.

IWHITNE, can you please explain which hoses to flush with the hose?
when I flushed it I flushed out the hose connected to the top of the manifold next to the upper radiator, and then I dropped and flushed the lower radiator through the waterpump.

Still no change in heat. I tried a new thermostat, no change there either.

I'm at a loss, and would prefer not to pull the dash and replace the heater core if it's not the actual problem.
