Default 4x4 kaboom

Well I might have ****ed up today, I just fixed my 4x4 yesterday, new switch and eliminated the steel section of the vaccum lines blew the plastic ones out.... So today im driving and everythign feels normal, when leaving a driveway I couldn't get the 4x4 to engage light was on but not power to the front, well i got it out and was driving after a while of going between 2 and 4 I finally heard a sort of clunk or so and the 4x4 engaged I thought everything was good until I had to turn and there were some issues. The best way I can describe is that It was similar to doing a sharp turn with the 4x4 only I was not making sharp turns just normal driving. When i did a sharp turn it almost didn't wanna move. So I got back to the house and now the 4x4 wont engage. To top it all off my truck started leaking alot of antifreeze and i can see some steam coming from the front of the intake near the thermostat. I am going to tear into the front axle and maybe the transfer case. Need some help on this one guys I'm at my wits end with this truck.

see if you can rotate the front driveshaft with it in 2 wheel with the front wheels off the ground. then grab the passenger tire and spin it to see if the drive shaft rotates.
if it does then the 4x4 is engaged and you probably have a cad problem.
if the driveshaft won't rotate by hand then you should take it off the front axle and see if it will rotate in the transfer case, then see if the pinion will rotate by hand on the front axle.
moving the drive shaft might take a little force with a pry bar.

I haven't touched the coolant looks like it may be the intake gasket I did have a high pressure leak I attributed to the water pump maybe not that now lol. I'm just hoping its not the block if the intake cracked that would suck but it gives me an excuse to get a air gap . I know that the vacum lines work I'm hoping maybe the something is just low on fluid but from all the binding in 4x4 turns I'm kinda doubting it.

Yeah but nothing even close to a sharp turn, the day before I was driving on dry pavement and had no problems going through the same corners in 4x4. My drivers side tie rod or drag link needs replacing but i don't think that is causing this, but its just another part I have to replace.

+1 to that! Keep it up and youll be putting a transfer case in your truck! Something has to give when you turn on dry pavement and its usually either the chain that snaps or the planetaries explode and either one will take the case with it. If you want 4x4 for dry pavement, you should consider getting an AWD transfer case like the 242 or 244.
