4x4 different tire sizes
they don't have to match if you don't put it in four wheel drive.
if its a temporary deal (funding wise) then you can re-gear the rear end and take the front drive shaft off for a little insurance until you get the cash to re-gear the front.
but if you do just the rear and engage the 4x4 then you can plan on buying new gears/transfer case/transmission/u joints etc...

I doubt that. That's just you in denial. Do the math.
Keep thinking that big tires and stock gears work fine together. If you ever do decide to regear, you'll quickly realize how wrong you have been.
For 33" tires, you really should be running 4.10's. That's the combo I ran, and it was so much better the 33's and 3.55's.

yes otherwise your front wheels will try to turn faster than your rear wheels....and it will bind things up and break things.....even when offraoding your putting a heavier load on things....your tires still grip and you still have traction offroad it may be a bit more forgiving but it still can screw things up....best bet is not to use 4x4 at all if you have mismatched gears or tires
well judging from all this info, theres no way i can afford to regear and get all 4 new tires plus aftermarket wheels to accomedate larger tires. so i think im just going to keep stock gears and 285/75r16s with some aftermarket wheels, maybe at most go to 305/70r16s becuase i dont think it would even be a noticable difference from my 285's with stock gears, theyre the same diameter, the 305s are only 0.78" wider, and the power im making now is enough for me, i have 9 points on my license and dont need any tickets anyway.
