Depends on how the change was done. Did you do it? If so doubt you flushed the system. The torque convertor holds something like 4/5 qts. Transmission cooler and lines another. Most shops dont do filter changes anymore they just backflush so the magnet never gets wiped off.
Here was my magnet after (2years) 20K on the rebuild. I did have buildup on my magnet, but it wasn't as chunky as yours. Mine was like brake dust almost. I did consider adjusting my bands.... but purpl scared me away from that. How often should one get their bands adjusted?
agreed mine looked like that too when I bought the truck...all depends on how long it went before being cleaned off.

But that build up looks fine. It is totally normal. The magnet is there to catch clutch material from normal operation and wear. Only if there was very large deposits of clutch material on the magnet, I would be worried, and espcially if you noticed slipping.

but i dont really wanna let a shop touch my transmission unless they have to.
