Default mysterious black box

First post here

I have been wondering what this black box is for. Its located on the driver's side fender right by the firewall. There is a harness that plugs into it, but it has been unplugged since I got the truck a year ago. The harness also has a red/pink and red/grey that were cut at the plug and spliced together.

Anyone know what it's for?

the harness leads into the factory wire bundle that goes to the cab and fuse box by the battery.

Take that serial number and google it or take it to a dealer and see what they can pull up.

It almost looks like a control unit for an alarm system from a newer Dodge. Even if you don't "think" you have an alarm, it could be disabled or something.

i think its for the daytime running lights. the factory service manual says that DRLs will turn on at 50% power when the vehicle starts moving or something like that. plug it in and start the truck to see if your corner lights are on. if not then wait until its dark and move the truck with the lights turned off to see if they come on by themselves.

that's exactly what it looks like. But Why would the two red wires be cut and spliced together?
