If you are going to tear into your truck and do that wheel bearing and since there is a little play in your u joint, might as well do those too.

My first time doing my wheel bearing took some time even with my friend there telling me what I had to do. To break the axle nut loose it took my friend jumping up and down on a 3ft piece of pipe a few times before it finally broke loose. I replaced the other side a couple months ago and nothing was on there too to tight, it took me about a half hour to do it.

 

well i went to the car wash last night (since its been 40-50 degrees out latly here in MA) and cleaned all the salt and everything, got home and soaked half a can of wd-40 on the whole back of the assembly. and i just got back from soaking it again. i cant start till around 3:30 or so tonight due to location on wheres its being done. hopefully this will be easy. i know how to do it, thats not the problem, the problem is not being able to break some of the bolts loose

 

wd-40 is also a lubricant. if you can't get the crc knock'er loose, crc freezeoff, or cyclo breakaway then you should at least use liquid wrench. lowes carries liquid wrench and so do the parts stores.

 

i saw crc freezeoff....i need to get a socket for the hub bolt (didnt relize i didnt have one) so ill grab some crc freezeoff when i go in a little bit.

 

I had a little play in my pass U joint also, and I figured may as well change it while it was all apart. I'd do those seals now too if I were you. just sayin'

 

i workin against the weather...its pouring out right now...so i cant get into it now...im not doing the seals right now due to the fact that time is also a factor. the way my fiancees and mine scedual go, it makes it so i only have wednesdays to work on things. (when im not working im watching my daughter, and vise versa)

 

That's ok, the next time you tear into it, you'll be a seasoned veteran.

the hub nut is 1 11/16 right? cuz thats the one i bought (f'n 30 bucks for one socket)

 

Yep!!! It will come in handy the next hub and axle project.
