reading that, one thing stuck out to me....they removed a leaf spring?? why?

 

Probably because they were phasing out the 2nd gen line and wanted to cheapen up the process and save materials. That is pretty common when a manufacturer is starting a new line.

 

I will look tonight I wonder when mine was built now I have black antenna, I have the plastic in the rear fenderwells and rear drum brakes so I may have an extra leaf spring. Interesting.

If my truck is a 2001 built between Jan-July 2000 what features should it have or not have so I know how to vote in the poll. Little confused.

 

Then, according to the article, you should have an added leaf, and none of these things below. And, like you said, rear drums & a black antenna.

• Deleted - Vanity mirror lights.
• Deleted - Rear cup holders were deleted.
• Deleted - Insulation under the hood on diesel models.
• Deleted - Front and Rear grab handles on passenger side.
• Deleted - SLT tailgate protector
• Deleted - Amber Fire Pearcoat paint
• Deleted - plastic rear wheel liners (P/N 5534 6010 SHIELD, Wheelhouse)
• Deleted - self-Dimming rear view mirror

 

The way I read the article the Jan-July 2000 had those options and then the 2001.5's had them deleted?

 

Yeah. That's what I meant as well.

The "2000s" had all of those options, and the "2001.5's" had all of those options deleted, as well as a silver antenna instead of a black one, and rear disc brakes.

 

Well purpl I will be glad to help, but I doubt you'll be hearing from me today with the info lol. My truck is on the complete other side of campus. However I am pretty sure I remember my truck being built october 2000.

And the only two options from the list my truck has are...

Front and Rear grab handles
Plastic rear wheel liners

ok, i think the article is BS, or severely misprinted.
there's no way that the 2000 year had those changes.
nor did the 2001 have those changes beginning 01/2000 nor 01/2001.
