Question won't start in park (still)

hi all
just bought a 98 1500 5.2. Truck wouldn't start in park and it seems I only have 1,2 reverse no drive or over drive. Buddy had a motor trans so I got the trans and replaced it. In the garage after instal all was well(new filter and all) started in park/nutral all was good take her out of garage and now it won't start in park again. Starts in N no problem any help would be great.

Could be just the neutral safety switch is no good. Did you reuse the TC ? It's possible it's bad.

I had this same problem. My 2nd gear band anchor fell out and wedged itself in the top of the valve body, which kept it from going into Park. I could still start in N. I also lost 2nd gear when it fell out since the SECOND gear band controls 2nd gear haha. It was pretty easy to fix, Im sure there is a thread on it.

Have you tried like pulling up on the shift handle and or moving it around while trying to start?

My Ram does this allot.. not all the time.. but it does happen quite a bit.. Every since I put in the new trans, just figured it was my linkage not adjusted right (indicator needle is off about a half click).. Doesn't bother me in the least.. I have been telling myself to try to fix it for about a year now

TC=converter (thanks)
I used the one that come with the new/used tranny I put in. I tried fiddling with the shifter and wheel still no start in park. I did notice the ignition is sloppy( took the key out and it still moves to the start position) now that I think about it, it was when I turned the keyless ignition to start is when I lost the starting in park

HMMM, the story deepens, At least we know it can't be the TC. Dive into the ignition switch and the neutral safety.

I will be checking the ign. Thankyou for your input. The N switch, I noticed on the tranny I took out, the switch looks new is this an easy screw in an attach the wire?
