You need the same gears for the front and rear axle or the first time you engage 4WD, BOOM!

I wouldn't feel safe in a truck with a different ratio front and back.

I'd also wager that the factory traclok (anti-spin differential) is also toast. It was on mine at 60K miles.

Welcome to the forum.

So the Dana 60 in front with the 4.56 in rear? hopefully that is the only problems the ram has. besides the ball joints. it has 135000 on it. thanx for the welcome.

Uhm, Dana 60 refers to the manufacturer and model number of the axle, 4.56 refers to the gear ratio inside it.

Most DANA 60's come with 4:10's. So you'd have to install new gears if you want 4:56's.

THANK YOU. I guess that should have beeen the question I asked. So which, if possible, front axle is already equipped with the 4.56 gear ratio? I know that I'm askin alot of ?'s unfortunately tearin apart an axel was not one of the things I did when I rebuilt my old truck. I just replaced the whold thing. It was easier... lol.
