Default tranny?? with cold

Hey guys, question that is killing me. On my 01 5.9 4x4 1500 with 104,000 miles on it. When I crank it up in the morning and put it in drive the truck seems to be having a power slip, if I punch the gas a little it will wait a sec then go. About a week ago it was like chugging, put it in neutral then drive couple of time then pull off road put it in park then drive still did it. Then I when and put in 4wheel high then back to 2wheel high, then drive down the road with out a hitch. Does not act up later in day. Now trany or transfer case i dont know. Have any of yall had this?? Please help. Also live in georgia so not that cold.

well i looked at the trany fluid level and it is in between the cross marks with the truck hot. Fluid was pink and didnt smell burnt or anything, and seems to go away after truck is tranny gets hot. Open to any input. Thanks, Ben

Reading my hanyes book it said when truck is hot fuild should be in to the top of the cross marks on the dipstick. Would this make big deal?

It shouldn't make that big of a difference but I would top it off. Try putting it in neutral for a few seconds then putting it in drive. Tranny fluid flows through the tranny in neutral.

he doesnt mean when you are checking the fluid, he means put it in neutral for a few seconds before you drive off when the tranny is cold.

I'm no trans expert but My Dakota did the same slip in drive. unless I let it run a min or 2 in Neutral before going to drive. If you try that I bet you will feel it shift into drive. Have done it for 4- 5 yrs on my dakota that I just sold. Had no problems as long as I let the fluid run thru in Neutral. Cold here in NJ during the winter also.
