lift or new exhaust?
hey guys, im debating on weather or not to get a lift or a new exhaust system. my truck now is stock height. the exhaust is just the stock cat converter, to a thrush glasspack that y's out to duals.
i would like to get that stock cat off there. but i dont wan to have to worry about the check engine light. does anyone know if true duels sound good? or maybe just a highflow cat with duals? or dual or cats? if i get a lift it will be like a 3" body or suspension lift. becasue i still ahev stock rims and tires...i dont want it to look goofy. lol

For that kinda money Id go with exhaust, I worked on Wranglers for multiple years before I got my Dodge and I have horror stories about body lifts. Always go suspension.
No idea about true duals, but I do know that a single 3" flows better than a muffler dual 2.5", which most are.

+1 to always going suspension
depends what kind of attention you want to your truck.. bugging people with loud pipes or the oooh and ahh thats a big lookin truck..
pros and cons for each.
but if it where me.. id get the lift. fabtech makes a 3 inch lift for $450 range (give or take) and a breeze to install. everything is bolt on. get that much more clearance and a better image. but its always best to get tires to compinsate for the height.. wider and more load rating, mud terrain, all-terrain type, etc ect.
exhaust, well u can get the girls attention revvin up at them.. kinda cheesy but works lol. and it just makes the truck sound mean, intimidating, the works (if you choose the right exhaust). make sure you get a high flow CAT if you choose exhaust. the stock cats are terrible. its deff worth the $380 i spent for my cat alone.
and like Oren said, ALWAYS go suspenion.. theres only one exception for body lifts that i wont even mention.. but they look hideous, and cause problems down the road from the spacers cracking, not installed right, or people even make there own spacers.. there cheap for a reason.. JUST MY OPINION on everything i just said.. i respect everyones elses thoughts.

What are you gonna do with the truck later down the road are you looking at a lift now and maybe gonna get bigger tires later on if so lift it
Are you gonna add more performance parts, if so go with exhaust.
You could gut the cat if you dont have to pass emissions and get the lift

thanks for your opinions. yea is till have the stock cat, i hink its like partially clogged or soemthing cuz getting off of an on ramp it boggs down a litle or seems like its hard to accelerate at about 45-60 maybe ts just me idk lol. and right know the exhaust doesnt sound to bad, but im pretty sure the glasspack is worn out. the truck has nice low rumble to it. its not that loud. i didnt know a magnaflow highflow cat was 400$?? i can get just the cat for like 80 bucks. and i dont have emissions tests here in IL what would true duals sound like on a 318? you think if i went true duals i should get 2 cats?
i plan to keep the truck for a while, and eventually get better tires. some 35's hopefully.

USAF90, ever seen the hockey puck body lift? Talk about wanting to slap somebody
If it's bogging then your cat is plugged up, prob from the leaking plenum.. like mine lol.
I like the sound of yakkier's true dual plan. My suggestion would be the Magnaflow high flow cat for ~$200 (where did you all pay 380 and 400 or are we talking about different cats?), it's a direct bolt in and the piping is mandrel bent and finished up with a Flowmaster or whatever you prefer.
