Default How long do you plan on keeping your 2nd Before replacing it?

I'm debating on how long to keep my truck. It has 171,000 on the original engine and 10,000 on the reman tranny. Getting ready to put a new set of tires on it. I don't want a truck payment and hate buying new anyway cause all it will do is lose value. I hope to at least get 250,000 out of the engine but it only gets about 10 miles a day put on it (I live very close to work). Maintenece cost is expected due to its age. What are your plans for your trucks?

I plan to keep mine for a long time. It was my first truck and it isn't worth anything so why sell it? Besides there's nothing on it I can't fix.

Ya, I pretty much plan to keep mine as long as it still does everything I need it to do. I've never owed any money on it, so i'm not in a big hurry to get strapped with a new truck payment. Sure, a newer truck would be nice, and would probably be better in a lot of ways, but my truck still does everything I need. And I agree, there is little on this truck that I couldn't fix myself to keep it on the road for many years to come. I currently have 101k miles.

i had a 98 GMC that i bought brand new, that i literally bought as soon as they pulled it off the truck, didn't even take a test drive, i pointed and said thats the one, i kept it till she was done i got 268000 miles out of it, needless to say i got my $15000 out of it and i plan on doing that with this one, difference is i traded the GMC for a used Dodge, so knocking on wood that i won't have major issues with this one, though i see a transmission in my future.

Till I find a screaming deal on a cummins or MAYBE a power joke(7.3 only). Or until it catches fire or the doors fall off.
