Ok here is a question directed towards anyone that has done the hughes kit was your plate roughed up were the gasket sat?
Dont think it was but maybe I'm wrong
To make it seal better, ridged surfaces cling to each other better than smooth surfaces
Yeah, but it could also rip the gasket. Face it, even though I am eliminating most of the problem between the different heat properties of the pan and manifold, there may still be small movements between the two. Plus, havent you ever been told never to nick any gasket sealing surfaces before?
I talked to my shop teacher today. He said he didnt care if I used the jigsaw and the drill press to cut the plates out and drill the holes. I just gotta get some good metal blades for the saw.
Remember that aluminum is soft, if you have the blade moving too fast then it will warm up and clog up the blade. So light pressure and slow speed on the blade.

That might good for painting surfaces but I think not on gaskets. If so you wouldnt have to take care when scraping off old gaskets.Wow,I agreed with purpl.Could you cut it with a plasma cutter, not the wand type but an actual table plasma cutter?
