Default Swap a 46re in for a 46rh

My question is this
can you swap out a 46re for a 46rh wouldn't you just need to change the transmission control module and the wiring going to the transmission
thanks for your help

There isn't a separate trans control module on these trucks. It is all in the PCM. You could possibly get a custom tune, that left out the governor stuff..... but, that would run 4-500 bucks.... Easier/better/probably cheaper to just get the right trans to begin with.

What about taking the PCM and computer from the donor truck? I have a complete 97 ram, doing research on dropping the 97 318 and 46 RE into a 95 that has the 318 and 46RH. I would think that if you took the wiring harness, pcm and computer, it should work without any added labor than the harness and parts swap.

Don't we have a thread going about just this swap?

It would be some work, but, certainly doable.

Guilty, I try to find as much info and get my info correct before I tackle a project like this solo.
