Need info on vehicle. What I think is happening is that the LEDs don't have enough electrical draw to get the flasher going. On my 1994 ram on the side of the dash (drivers side) there is a little door. Inside are fuse and the flasher (bottom little metal drum). Go to a parts store and get a flasher that handles LEDs.

I don't know if this is the same for all years though.

Not necessarily.

You can also wire in large resistors/ballasts that will make your lights work properly. Also, tinkerinman, you should create a signature that has some info on your truck, like model year, 4x4 or 4x2, 1500 or 2500, long box/reg box, reg cab/club/quad, engine, etc. etc.

Welcome to DF!

yes, LEDs do not have enough draw to work a mechanical flasher. They are dependant on load and LEDs don't draw enough current to make the flasher work. What you have to do is either get an electronic flasher or one that is designed for LEDs.(No-load flasher) This is what i had to do to get LED turn signals on my motorcycle to work...or you can buy a special crossover that wires between the 2 circuits, but thats a little more pricey.
