Where is my voltage regulator located???

Question Where is my voltage regulator located???

Is it in-line or is it in the alternator itself????

Read that thread Sheriff posted for you for reference and trouble shooting, But too answer your question, no, you cannot just replace the VR in the PCM.

Default Voltage regulator

Yes you can bypass the pcm I've do it on several dodges diesel and gas burners if it does in fact test to be bad you can purchase a external regulator a three wire one for older Chrysler or Jeep or whatever and mount it somewhere on the fire wall . Keep in mind to he alternator works off of the ground not positive wire another words the regulator when it sense the need to start charging connects the ground this wire going to the alternator is also called the Exciter wire .
