a battery is a battery a 5.2 will start off a lawnmower battery, V10's and cumming's are the only ones you need to worry about batteries

PCM [Powertrain Control Module] ECM [Electronic Control Module] is the same thing
Technically, this is not true. The ECM is a separate unit in addition to the PCM and, it applies to diesel. Totally different application / unit and is NOT interchangeable with a PCM.

The problem stems from misuse of the terminology where, they dub it another acronym. Those terms are used incorrectly and this is where the cross over of those terms came from.

So, when ordering one, just be sure you know what your ordering because, if they indeed ship out a ECM vs a PCM, it's not going to work.

"Misuse of terminology" may be true, but most people use them interchangably, even the pros like ACE, who list these as "ECM/PCM/ECU's"

Are you replacing the battery and the alternator before you do the regulator bypass?

Regardless of what they call it- it's a PCM as called out by Dodge. The drawings and manuals list it as PCM as does the dealer. And, same goes for the ECMs- totally different P/N and function and by no means can you swap one for the other.

The 3rd party dealers that sell them are misusing the terms when they sell you a PCM labeled as a ECM or ECU. This was the point in stating 'misuse of terminology" but, one still needs to verify whether ECM means PCM or, ECM.

This is why I stated: "technically" they are not the same. While they "call" them the same, list them as whatever term they feel like calling them, you still need to make sure that your not getting the wrong part as, there's two different modules and, there's a slight chance of getting the wrong part when using the wrong acronym.

Some companies use the correct terms and, if one calls up and asks for a ECM- that's what they will deliver vs. a PCM.

That was why I mentioned this. It was merely an FYI type of thing here.

That's what I want to know. Just to prove a point.
