Default How to get the o2 sensor out?

alright so now im having problems getting the o2 sensor out. i soaked it in dw-30 and tried to get it off with a wrench, but it only started to round it off. how the heck do you get this thing off?

its a 20 something mm wrench (22mm?), but... normally they have o2 sensor sockets which you slid on and twist out. I rented one at autozone and had to throw a cheater pipe on the end of the tool to get my originals to break free. Now I can just get them out with a regular wrench.

well thanks, i didnt no that they made a specific socket for it. and sorry about the dw-30. i have a buddy who isnt much into cars or anything mechanical and he called it that once, i guess he didnt no what exactly it was called, so now i say that all the time

If you cant get the tool or you round it off too much you can cut the top of the sensor and put a deep socket on it

Like others have said, either get a socket for it (I think it is 21mm IIRC), or use a line wrench. Soak it daily in wd40 or PB blaster and a few days later it should come right off with one of the two.

a good pair of tight clamping vise grips can probably show it who's boss.

also, soak it down with penetrating oil and let it soak as long as possible. pb-blaster, knocker, etc. you can also try heating the pipe area. be careful not to melt your wires.

or let it run for about 20 minutes and bring it up to running temp then try an break it loose

ive let in warm up and ive soaked it several times. i cant get it off without rounding it with a wrench so im gonna have to get a special socket
