Default water pump for 1996 Ram

I am getting a rebuilt water pump for my 1996 Ram 5.9 and how can I tell if it needs a threaded or non threaded .
Thanks

Look at your current waterpump, and if your fan has a big nut that attaches it to the pump, you need a threaded. If the fan is held on by 3 bolts (?) then you need non threaded. This is the only thing I can think of on a threaded vs non threaded waterpump. Hope this helps!

I thought all the fans were a threaded attachment. When I got my pump they asked bolt on pulley (4 bolts) or press on pulley. I had a bolt on but bought a press on because it was cheaper and I got a new pulley.

i think all the 2nd gen magnum water pumps are threaded. you'd have to go way back to an old 1st gen/LA engine to find a bolt on fan. i'd also guess those old models are not interchangeable to the magnum. you may not be in the right year section of the parts lookup.

I believe threaded or non-threaded is referring to the pulley - does it have bolts that hold it on or is it pressed on. All fans are threaded on. I had a bolt-on pulley and when I bought my threaded water pump from Rock Auto it was the correct part. I'm guessing you are looking at Rock Auto and see the same thing.

Not true, 96 could have either one. IIRC in 99 or 2000 they went to press on only.
