The only difference in stock ride heights were 4x2 vs. 4x4 vs. Off Road Edition 4x4.
I was going to say the same thing.

Was your friends truck older? The springs could have been sagging on the SLT.

I'm pretty sure the HD shocks were part of a separate package, the towing package or some such, and that they did not come as part of the Sport package.

Mine came with HD shocks, pretty sure due to the towing package. No real ride height difference compared to some Sport 4x4s that I've parked next to.

Besides, shocks have very little to do with ride height. Ride height is maybe a few percentage points shocks and 95+% coils/springs.

What? lol. I worked on a farm for many of years, and I had no need for 4X4 unless it rained. And when it did rain, the roads were so sloppy it was pointless to drive on them even with 4X4. I still hit big dips in dirt roads, f*ucked up highways, etc. And I'd rather not rip my transmission crossmember out from under my truck because it was "pointless" to lift a 2WD. Lol I'm not trying to start any problems, I'm just saying that lifting a 2WD is not in any way pointless.

that is a good reason actually plus the more i think about it even the half ton chevy's have IFS so really if jacking up a 2wd is crazy then why do chevy owners lift there trucks

you all have to remember who your talking to... its only me, i dont own a 2wd, never have and probably never will unless its a car... i can see points of why you would do it, but i, in a personaly view, dont think a 2wd should be lifted...

and the chevy owners lift there ifs fronts because they have axles in the middle of them...

like i said, this is all personal view, to each there own... more power to ya if you lift a 2wd...

I'm with this guy, I didn't need a 4x4 for my farm work. Thats what a tractor is for I did order 2in spacers for my 2x4 though because it sits just low enough in the front to **** me off.

Unless it's HD, I think all the newer trucks come with IFS even if they are 4x4. My friends uncle's 08 ram is a 4x4 with IFS.

well like i said, its all personal pref, i mena look what i drive, to me a 2wd is pointless, to you its not...

and the 3rd gen and up 1500s came with front IFS and 4x4, thats not what im saying, the ifs look is cool, more of a baja but its cool, but its pointless when theres no axle going to it

My expedition is my 4x4 play toy. I bought the ram for what I needed not for what I wanted. And back in 99 when I bought it they didn't have any quad cab 4x4's at the dealership where I knew the owner and my cheby had just taken a dump on me so I was kinda in a bind.
