Default Mopar performance valve covers...

Is it true that these things leak through the grommets and make a mess on the engine? If so should I get the baffles that they sell at APS? Gonna hopefully do the 1.7s rr next weekend so I need to order them soon if I need them.

I have heard yes and no on the leaking Freeze. I had a pair on my 99 5.9 that would weep alittle around the breather. But nothing that was major. I'd double check on the baffles with the 1.7's, IIRC Harland Sharps' stated the baffles would have to be removed or modified. I can't recal if they meant OEM cover or MP ones though.

If you get the right ones I believe you'll be fine. I also think the aps baffles are made to work with the rr's. Silver would know better on this subject

You thinking you have diff covers when you rr's? Because the southrr's the ones alot of people get work under stock covers

sorry if I read into that

Mopar alum valve covers do weep a bit at the grommets as mentioned.
They come with baffles included btw
I was running Crower 1.7rr with the baffles in though they were a small ss rocker.
I only removed my baffles cause of the rocker girdles I have ontop of my HS1.6rr.

From my understanding the HS 1.7rr wont fit stock valve covers, should be fine under the taller MP alum covers

I've been running them for about 6 years. The baffles are included. I've had no issues with weeping around the grommets. Every once and a while I'll get a little weeping around the fill cap and I'll have to bend the tabs on the cap to create a better seal.

I have HS 1.7 RR's and they fit fine under my stock valve covers. I thought one of the HS's main selling points was that they fit under the stock covers.

They should fit under the stockers. If you really look the MP covers are stock height. I found this out when I thought I needed taller covers.

Stud mount converted rockers will not fit under the stock covers. The pedestal mount HS rockers will fit under the stock covers in the 1.6 or 1.7 variety.

Most any rocker can be made to fit under the stock valve cover, but you need to smash the baffle down with a length of 2x4 and a sledge.

I have the mopar covers and the rocker rollers already.I havent installed either one yet but I dont want oil seeping on the covers because it defeat the purpose of looking good.I think I'm just gonna buy the aps baffles and have it over with.Just hope the weather continues like it has for the past few days.
