I'm new to this so hope I'm on right page I just took teanny out of 01 ram 2 wheel drive and put in 96 and now overdrive dont work

Electronics mismatch. You need to replace ALL of the electronics inside the trans, with parts that match your year truck. Retainer for the governor pressure sensor/solenoid is different as well, so you will also need that.

I would be happy to, but, what would be more relevant? Also, it's 10 years old.
