MonteC's Transmission Corner (For Info Only)
First of all I want to say it is very refreshing to see MonteC is so willing to assist others in need, not very common in todays world! Thank you for your time and knowledge. Now for my question... I have a 2006 5.9 Cummins A/T that is giving me some issues at 190k. This tranny owes me nothing at this point but I am a cheap *** so I want to see what my options are. The truck is slipping at low speed, low rpm but runs fantastic and shifts fine at higher speeds. I did have a pinhole in the trans cooler that was repaired not long ago, as soon as this repair took place the torque seal went bad so it was replaced next. The trans fluid is nice and clean so my question is... Do I need a rebuild (this is what I am thinking) or is there a possibility of a tc issue? As of this week all electrical connections have been checked and cleaned as well. I drive this truck daily and it does the trick but it is now hunting season and I will be towing more frequently so i would like to get it repaired. I am no mechanic so I will be having this done elsewhere and do not want to get taken advantage of at the repair shop. Thanks for any assistance you may lend.
MonteC, I was wondering what your opinion is regarding the "slip in" style front band? I know you mentioned it in other posts and that caught my attention. It is the one offered by WIT under pn 22022AS at only $22.
I am wondering if I can use it until I get more time, money, tools and knowledge to be able to rebuild the whole trans myself. That would probably be in another year.
I have a 06 CTD (48re) and tow about 6k lbs about 10 times a year for camping trips.

I have 2000 1500 2wd automatic..need tranny(wont shift outta first)...what tranny do i need? I have been looking like crazy for months now and cannot seem to find anything. I have been told its a 46re is that correct? Would rather R&I than get rebuilt...but at this point will do anything to get back on the road.HELP!!
I got my OD back from the transmission shop. I had them replace the snap ring and put a new seal on the rear of it. I also picked up a new gasket from the dealer for the OD. I see that the gasket also goes behind the overdrive piston retainer. Is the retainer easy to remove to install the new gasket? I have searched online and have found very little info. What I have has said there is an internal snap ring behind it in the transmission. Is this correct? If so, is this easily removed? Thanks again for your help.
I just installed a Transgo shift kit, governor solenoid, and accumulator piston to address the 1-2 shuttle. The trans finally shifts like I think it should.
I do have a trans fluid leak at the shift shaft. I think this is the seal for the shaft,

Is this the correct seal for the 48re? Can I replace this from the outside without pulling the VB? It seems like it would be difficult to pull the seal with the shift shaft in place.
And, MonteC if you read this, can you give me your opion on the "slip in" style band?
