it wont idle. i have to hold the throttle on the carpet for it to start and keep going at all. and yes loud sucking noise. I think im going to take the cat off tomorrow (straight headers) and try to start it.

Sounds like the IAC needs to be replaced.

before you pull the cat off, remove the pre-cat O2 sensor and try to start it. That's the easiest way to tell if the cat is plugged up, it'll let the exhaust pressure out the O2 hole

ok i did a little research on the IAC and came up with this:

IAC is responsible for idle control when your foot is completely off the gas and the throttle plate is closed. you can rule out the IAC by laying your foot on the pedal and cracking open the plate. you have a different problem where it won't even run at full or partial throttle.
now if this is correct the IAC is probably not my problem since the truck barely runs with the throttle fully applied.

Sorry about that. I missed the full throttle part when I read it the first time.

no problem . And yeah I'll probably take out the O2 sensor and try it first but if the cat is the problem I'm taking it off to get it gutted anyways. Is the O2 sensor located on the top side of the cat? thanks for the reply's guys, big help!

the O2 sensor will be located just ahead of the cat, you'll see it
