Default Couple issues with my ram 96 1500

anyways,
i have my trans fluid blowing out by the shifter??? this has been an on going problem,i have replace the gasket numerous time,i even glued it last time with schlack.i can tell my fluid is getting low again,i hear it in the trans, and crawled under it yesterday, and sure enough, the fluid is running down the side of the trans. and its not just a little leak, in about 30-45 min. after driving there was a softball sized leak on the ground underneath.i dont know what to do with that?maybe put one of those differential breathers on there???

and my brakes are in need of attention.
i dont really have any braking untill im near the floor. and then the brakes feel normal. im guessing brake booster??? or master clyinder? thanks for looking in

on a good note, the truck just turned 224xxx miles. and is on the factory 318 engine. doesnt smoke or use oil. and idles, and runs just fine.

Have you tryed bleeding the brakes? If so pull the rear wheels off and check the hardware in there and make sure the adjuster between the bottom of the shoe's is not frozen. Adjust the rear brakes up and see if that helps.

hi,
i have bled the back brakes, and they seem to be working fine,e-brake and all works pretty good. the front i need to replace, they have been on there for years, and the bleeders are broke off.so i do need new calipers. but i was just wondering if anything else would cause this,so i really knew what i was into.

Long pedal travel, and then good solid brakes generally means your rear adjusters are frozen, and consequently, your brakes are WAY out of adjustment. Block the front tires, jack up both rears, set the axle on jackstands, trans in neutral, and spin one of you back tires. If it spins easy..... well, take the tire off, get the drum off, and check the adjusters on both sides. If you have to, take 'em off, clean 'em up, put 'em back on, put the drums back on, then turn the adjusters so that the brake shoes are just starting to rub the drum. Make sure ya do both sides. Use a couple lug nuts to hold the drums in place, so, when you adjust, they are in the 'right spot'.

Step on the brake pedal a couple times, maybe even start it up, put it in gear, let em roll a bit, and hit the brake a couple times. Go and check your adjustment. Prolly have to tighten them up just a bit more.

Put your tires back on, get it back on the ground, and take it for a ride, CAREFULLY, and check your brakes.

Also, make sure you have enough brake fluid in the resevoir. <-do this first.

I would replace calipers and pads, bleed everything and go from there.
Post here https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...on-corner.html for the the transmission leak he will hook you up.

my brakes use to go to the floor. The i took off the REAR drum, and my hardware and pads had exploded lol. put in new hardware and shoes, and now my pedel stops at 1/4 the way down. i have all my pedal back. Didnt require any bleeding

DONT drive it if you are leaking fluid like that. we have weak trannys as it is. With you running it low alot, you can make the life span much shorter.
