Default Fuel filter, or not fuel filter?

Dodge ram 1500 V6 EFI, starts cold but while still cold if you put it in to gear the engine dies. Once it warms up the engine will go fine.

its a 96

The fuel filter in these truck are built in the fuel pump, so it's not the fuel filter.

Before you start it you should hear a wine coming from the back end of the truck.

Surprising these don't have an external fuel filter as well. I was looking on AutoZone's site for replacement filter prices and didn't see anything and thought that was weird.

There is a screen at the base of the fuel pump assy, an internal filter, and then the pressure regulator, which acts as a third stage filter. They're pretty well covered.

Dodge came out with a tsb to reprogram the ecm for the cold start problem. Mine is a manual but when i started it, it would rev up and then die, but if i held my foot on the pedal to about 2000 rpm until it got warm, it would idle. they told me there is a reprogram that they have to do and the problem was solved!

idle problems are often IAC or TPS.
check fuel pump by testing pressure at the rail with a gauge, should be 49psi.
