Default Need some big time help..........

hi i have a 96 dodge ram 2500 5.9 gas, my main bearings were going so replaced bottom end of the motor kept the top half to save myself on the wiring hassle put 01 bottom end put everything back together used all my old connections truck will crank but not start no spark put on new distributor cap getting fuel to fuel rails seems like no spark at coil had both coils tested them the 01 360 was running when i got it. checked all connections checked all grounds i could checked vacum lines pulled plug 1 loaded with gas desperately seeking any suggestions vehicle will crank but wont start also as a helpful tip could somebody give me the correct firing order for this vehicle

You hooked up the crank sensor on the bell housing didn't you?

It def sounds like the crank sensor to me. You have a 2nd gen ram. Try asking there.

When you reinstalled the motor, did you have the crank position sensor installed in the block? It is REAL easy to trash those when installing the motor.

actually the new one did get destroyed however i used my old one anyhow becuase of keeping the old wiring harness, after several hours of testing last night, reversed ground test are all good, i have power to all plugs except tps, have power to coil (weak) power to distrubutor(weak) power to crank sensor(weak) however they might be low voltage dont know. as i said the only place i have no power is tps for some reason. any other suggestions???

to explain more in detail what i mean by weak is with light tester and the key to on just basically lighting up tester real dim.

Sensors only get five volts, so, that isn't really a surprise.

Do you get spark, or fuel pump running when cranking?
