Most part stores will only read codes for the engine light. If it the brake or ABS light they won't read it and all of the shops want $100 bucks to hook it up to the pc to read the codes. I am going to be pissed off if I pay the 100 and they hit the reset button and all is good. Thanks for the responses and I appreciate the help.

I bought a actron abs code reader.... BUT it doesn't work on the 2nd gens. it may work on your's though. (I think it does 2002-2007 dodge rams)
Check at advanced autos website for pricing I got mine for 99 bucks, about $170 bucks cheaper than last year.
Other than that the auto zones. o'reileys and whatnot will not read ABS codes for fear of lawsuits.
A DRB-III will read them and a dealer has this or a really GOOD shop they're about 7 grand, at least back in the day they were.

have any of you ever replaced your pcm? if your pcm was replaced and not flashed correctly the abs and brake light will come on and stay on because there will be a vin mismatch between the module and the pcm..also my snap on scanner at work reads abs codes no problem and can clear them..also check your fuses if this hasnt been mentioned already trailer's tend to pop a certain fuse which throw's those light's..iv researched into the abs and brake light thing alot so if you have any question's ill try and answer them to the best of my knowledge

Ok Mrfarrell you have some interesting facts there. if it is just a fuse I'm gonna feel really dumb. any clue what fuse it is?? Since you mention trailers mine started just after a camping trip last year. So I hope maybe its only a fuse.

mrfarrell you live in VA? Bring that scanner over and take me out of my frustration. You talk about fuses, is there any fuses in a wierd location that you recommend me looking? Another dump question, where is the pcm? Is that the abs module behind the battery?

the pcm is on the right firewall behind the air cleaner tube if you have the stock aircleaner..and no i live in canada sorry..and the fuse is in no special place just check all your fuse's..depends wether you have all wheel abs or rear wheel it is located in the general area of behind the pdc thou..any shop should have a scanner that should be able to do it our shop isnt that advanced..

Well broke down and took it to a shop, paid $98 for them to tell me that my abs module was bad. They quoted me $740 to replace it, 430 for the module and 310 to labor and reprogram. Found Module Master on line that will rebuild it for $130, they even have instructions on how to pull the abs module out of your car. We'll give them a shot and see what happens.....

I noticed the ABS light on my truck come on when I had the plug that goes to that sensor unplugged. I bet that's your issue...

Well my truck threw an abs/brake light when my wheel cylinder failed. Just had to bleed the brakes and it went away. Might be worth looking into.
